Systems That Create Peace and Order in a Busy Household - Stress and Overwhelm Management Part 2

Systems That Create Peace and Order in a Busy Household - Stress and Overwhelm Management Part 2

Systems are sets of things that work together, and they are an important way to maintain sanity and peace in motherhood.

Laura Hernandez of Mama Systems has dedicated her life to doing just that for stressed out moms everywhere, and she joined me on the podcast to inspire us to be the best mama to our people and the best manager of our homes.

After realizing that she nor her family could continue living in chaos with her ten young children, she put in systems that has helped her family life run smoothly and lighten the load on her shoulders.

Here are her top tips:

1. Take a look at your household tasks and identify what you dislike doing the most. What quickly drains you?
2. Delegate where possible so you have energy to do things that only mama can do, like taking care of our kids' emotional needs.
3. Identify each family member's roles and responsibilities, and then set the expectation that the family needs to work as a team. If someone doesn't do their job, the team will fall apart.
4. Batch similar tasks together and set a specific time to complete them rather than spreading them over a period. This is a great practice especially if you don't have anyone who can help you.
5. Identify what sorts of things fill you up the most and then protect them by setting the expectations of what you need from your family.

We go into each one deeper, including what to do to get all family members on board with the system and the role of rewards and incentives on episode 48 of the Moms Grab Coffee podcast.
